Organization Needs Your Help!

Do you have a craft? Would your shop be willing to help out a needy organization?Would you be willing to donate your creations to a worthy cause? We are helping Alicia Fastman from Widener University School of Law. Alicia is a Silent Auction Co-Chair of the Public Interest Law Alliance (PILA). Each Spring they hold a silent auction to raise money for student fellowships. These fellowships are awarded to students who will work for public interest, non-profit, and government organizations and agencies this upcoming summer without being paid for their efforts. Public interest lawyers advocate for populations like victims of domestic violence, and the homeless. They are needing items donated to be auctioned off. If you would like more information on how you can help Alicia, and her organization please email her at:

Dolly Needs A Home

Stop by Kail Gottschling etsy store. Kail is a married mother of two little munchkins from North Carolina and she makes the most wonderful rag dolls I have seen in a long time. Her dolls are vibrant, and whimsical you just can't resist having one.Needless to say I traded Kail one of my tutu skirts for one of her beautiful handmade dolls. My daughter Keeley's list of handmade products for her birthday is growing rapidly. I was thoroughly impressed when our package arrived to our door. Our package was embellished with dancing fairies I almost didn't want to open the package. A lovely note from Kail herself was kind hearted and much appreciated. If your looking for a perfect dolly for your little one check out Simply Sweet & Made With Love designs by Kail Gottschling.

I contacted Dina immediately to tell her how interested I was in her hand painted wooden storage bin for my daughters birthday. Dina is super sweet, thoughtful and the communication expressed between us sparked an immediate friendship.

Save Handmade ;]]

Save Handmade Toys This information was provide to me by Made by Anjie Inc... Please read her post and pass along as well as add this to your blog pages and help spread the word.We absolutely need more exposure! With out your help I myself as well as other homemakers of handmade children's products will have to cease in making products for your little ones.I couldn't imagine a little girl not wearing one of my precious tutus. :( Thanks, Jen Harris http://www.iluvututumuch.net In 2007, we were shocked to learn that so many of the toys our children were (are) exposed to were tainted with lead and phthalates. Large toy manufacturers outsourcing to China and other developing countries sold numerous products within the US that simply put, made kids sick. Rightfully reacting to this mess, the US Congress cracked down on the Consumer Products Safety Commission ([ http://www.cpsc.gov ]CPSC) and passed the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA [ http://www.cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/cpsia.html ]) in August 2008. Essentially, this law requires mandatory safety testing for all toys and products geared towards children ages 12 and under. In theory, we as parents and consumers should be thrilled with this action. However, the law lacks specifics and without modification, the reality is that thousands of small businesses who produce handmade toys and children's products (Made by Angie [ http://madebyangie.com ] _not _excluded!) will be forced to close our doors because the testing procedures are prohibitively expensive. Does this really make sense for the cloth diaper business using 100% organic cotton materials? Or the craft fair artisan that sold you a hand chiseled wooden train set? Or the adorable personalized hand appliqued birthday t-shirt you just ordered from [ http://www.etsy.com ]etsy.com? On February 10, 2009 (coined "[ http://nationalbankruptcyday.com ]National Bankruptcy Day")-- this law will go into effect, forcing us to provide certification of thousands of dollars spent on third-party testing. Testing for chemicals that don't exist to begin with in the materials we use. Now more than ever, with our economy hanging on by a thread we need these small businesses who provide innovative, unique and SAFE products and help to keep our handmade in the USA industry thriving. _Here's what you can do to help. _ 1. Start by forwarding this information to everyone you know. Parents of young children are not the only ones touched by this legislation. There is a "forward" button at the bottom of this email. 2. Vote for amending the law on Change.org [ http://www.change.org/ideas/view/save_handmade_toys_from_the_cpsia ]. With enough votes it will be presented to President Obama in January! 3. Find your congress person [ https://writerep.house.gov/writerep/welcome.shtml ] and senators [ http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm ] and write a letter like the sample here [ http://www.handmadetoyalliance.org/how-you-can-help ]. Particularly if they serve on the [ http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/cgi-bin/newcommittee.cgi?site=ctc&lang=&commcode=hcommerce_commerce ]House Subcommittee on Commerce, Trade and Consumer Protection or the [ http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/cgi-bin/newcommittee.cgi?site=ctc&lang=&commcode=hsmall_business ]House Committee on Small Business. 4. Send an email directly to the CPSC [ http://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/info.aspx ] or contact chairperson Nancy Nord at 301-504-7923.

Is blogging jibberish ramblings of a woman going crazy at 12:39 am? I think so...... Who in their right mind would be willing to do this at this hour? Ummmmmmmmm Me of Course. So here it goes the update.

Strawberries & Champagne

A Day at the Beach

Wow ! Absolutely Breathtaking ....This was such an amazing day at the beach as we were fitting in tutu portraits on a vacation weekend. My boys were back at the hotel gearing up for a day of fun and shopping. We drove down to the beach once again to take pictures of Keeley modeling my newest of creations the Strawberries and Champagne Petal Filled Tutu Skirt. What a perfectly lovely tutu for the scenery . It was so much fun watching the waves go in and out. These tutus are truly amazing for portrait work. Keeley had such fun at the beach. I loved seeing her dance, and twirl in the sand. She eventually found a stick and was dragging it behind her. I thank god for this perfect little girl he has brought in to our family's life. She is the reason for my inspiration I just love her too too much.

Bibs & Burpies

With Designers in mind like Amy Butler, Michael Miller, & Robert Kauffman your sure to make incredible artwork out of their fabric. We handmade, and designed our newest addition of bibs and burpcloths adding the extra finishing touches of chenille & terrycloth to the back for a complete moisture barrier.Baby products are always fun to design and sew and we have had a tremendous amount of buyers asking for new products so we decided to try our hand on a few new creations. Consumers were eager to mix and match our bib and burp sets they especially enjoyed our new baby pails that are great for gift giving on birthdays, baby showers, or even stocking stuffers.

Just a Few Creations

Trying our hand at a few ,new ideas besides our signature series of Tutus & Tutu dresses we decided to break the mold and make embellished onesies, pillowcase dresses, baby blankets and doggie tutus in which by the way we sold out of instantly. Go figure! Alissa had been on my case for the past year trying to break down my guard so that I would cave in to her demands of apparel for little pooches. I just resisted with all my might. I absolutely could not, would not make tutus for animals! Or so I thought. Who would of thought that a little tulle attatched to some elastic would make the world go round for dog lovers. People all over town were asking us constantly to make these precious commodities for their little ones. With much hesitation I gave in to their demands and they were such a big hit. Here are a few pics of our sweet and lovely new creations.
